Formal lounge room design and use decisions
Although the formal lounge is disappearing from some of the more modern homes, the majority still have this room.
Some home owners convert formal lounge rooms to offices, theatre rooms or even another bedroom. However, whatever its function, it is generally at the front of the house, and often the first thing your visitors will see.
Think the old formal sitting room that welcomed visitors and was the best room in the house for this very reason.
This room is where people tend to spend more on furniture and often have a more formal arrangement. Curtains are often part of the overall décor, with more precious artwork or decorating items. Often there is no TV in this space, but this depends on the age of your kids, size of family and your personal needs.
Remember, there are no hard and fast rules.
