Colour personality
Every colour has an attribute and when put together correctly they create a dynamic impression and if not the attitude is the same as a sullen teenager, dour, depressing and off putting.
Colour in interiors
Ever wonder why prisons are not painted yellow, orange or red.
The attitude of colour can be destructive if used in the incorrect context. Here you can learn more about the colours yellow, orange and red.
Interior colour consultation
Last year I did a colour consultation for a group home of four adult males who suffer from severe Autism.
Colour effect on interiors
I noticed immediately that there were no window treatments and everything was literally nailed down as the clients’ behaviour was often destructive. I instantly knew why, as every room in the home were painted a bright yellow which was inherited from the previous owner.
Direct impact of colours in spaces
The attitude of the yellow was rubbing off on the occupants like a problematic group of teenagers, and stimulating to such an extent that they could not control their action and behaviour.
Space feels like home
The solution was to introduce blues and greens to the space.
These hues have a much more relaxed attitude, calming the occupants so they now have window treatments back up, making the space feel more like a home. Learn more on the impact of blue and green in interior design.
Attitude of colour combinations
Remember colour combinations can be as destructive as an out of control teenager with attitude or productive like the A grade student, it all depends on the setting and context in which is is used.
